From Vision to Provision…
Back in my college days at Western Kentucky University, in 2015, God planted a dream in my sleep one night. In that dream, I saw a large community of believers (called Saved in the City), coming together (on a charter bus) traveling from city to city displaying agape love at each destination. I was amongst the group, and we had such a grand time praying, completing community service projects, trying new foods, touring the cities, and just enjoying our time of fellowship. The crazy thing is, the group started out small but gradually grew in volume each stop we made. There were so many people in this group, I didn’t even get the chance to meet everyone. In fact, I was looking for the minister of this group but they were nowhere to be found.
The dream ended with me still looking for the minister in charge, and I eventually woke up out of my sleep. I wanted so badly to be a part of that group in real life but there weren’t any organizations like that around me. I prayed to God that night to lead me to a group such as the one in my dream. Over time, He started revealing the dream and its interpretation to me. After fasting and MUCH prayer; God gave me the answers I had been seeking…
One day, while spending some alone time at the Student Union Center on campus, God spoke to me about the dream. It was a foreshadow of the ministry that was birthing inside of me. At first, I was excited but the more I thought about it and as days passed, fear overcame me. I did not believe that anyone would want to follow a 22 year old girl leading them in an organization of this magnitude. I did not feel adequate enough to fill the role of creating this ministry and because of that, I wrestled with God for years about it. I even made a deal with him; If I created the ministry then he would have to find a minister to facilitate the organization. God said loud and clear, “deal!” Little did I know, his “deal” would lead right back to me. After struggling for about 4 or 5 years with finding a person to lead this ministry; God revealed to me that I would be the minister of this organization.
So fast forward to 2019, I enrolled in a minister’s class at my church in Kentucky, and was officially licensed in 2021. God held up his deal, and the reason why I couldn’t see who the minister was in my dream; was due to me not seeing myself as God saw me. When I look back on it now, I was the leader of that group and I never realized it was me that they were looking at as their leader.
